Olympus 2249 Character Builds: Attributes, Specs & Perks
Dieselship Studio’s first devlog (“Briefly about the role-playing system and karma”, October 3, 2026) explains how a character is put together. The short version from the developers: you can’t build a character who is good at everything, but they will be unique. This page sets out what has been confirmed. The perk names and the full attribute list have not been published yet, and we will add them once the game is out on October 6 rather than guess.
Attributes come in pairs
Each attribute pair describes two opposite ends of one trait. The example the developers give is Physique, made of Strength and Agility: your character can’t be a hulking bruiser and a nimble acrobat at once.
| Example from the devlog | Strength | Agility |
|---|---|---|
| Lean into Strength | 6 | capped at 4 |
| Even split | 5 | 5 |
Both lines are legal, but the developers say the even split “isn’t the best way out”: in combat you need both, yet a jack of all trades gets the most out of neither. The other pairs have not been named yet.
Attributes also decide how many perks you can take, so they shape the whole build, not just your combat numbers.
Two specializations
At character creation you pick two specializations:
- Combat: your weapon preference.
- Peacetime: your profession outside combat. The Steam page says there are five to choose from, each opening new dialogue options and new ways to solve problems.
Skills in your specializations grow faster, unlock special dialogue lines and give you access to a set of special perks.
The perk pool: 35 per character
| Perk group | Count |
|---|---|
| Universal (any build) | 21 |
| Your combat specialization | 7 |
| Your peacetime specialization | 7 |
| Total you can choose from | 35 |
Perks unlock as you level, but you can only take a limited number, and that limit depends on your attributes. The devlog’s advice: you can grab whatever opens at the first few levels, or hold your picks for the stronger perks that come later. Some perks unlock active combat abilities, which cost Stamina in battle (an official screenshot shows one called Power Kick).
Presets for a first run
There are four presets. The studio recommends taking one on your first playthrough, while you get to grips with the system, and calls them “perfectly effective”. Once you know how pairs, specializations and perks interact, build your own to match your playstyle. Their names and stats will be added here after launch.
How you level up
- Quests give the most experience.
- In combat you get experience for kills and skill points for each hit you land. Once you collect enough, the skill goes up and you also receive general level points.
- Hidden places off the map can give experience too, like the bottle-shooting range near your home.
Building for replays
The game is story-driven and the developers expect players to come back: “on a second or third playthrough, there are lots of different builds and combinations to try.” Your Karmic Type and peacetime specialization change which dialogue and quest solutions you see, so the same act can play very differently. A useful way to plan a second run is to change both: a different type opens other replies and jobs, and a different profession opens other solutions.
Not confirmed yet
- The names of the other attribute pairs and the full stat list.
- The names of the combat and peacetime specializations and their perks.
- Whether you can respec. Nothing has been said about it.
The studio has announced four devlogs in this series. We will update this page with each one and again when the game unlocks.
Noted. Safe travels out there.
