What is Olympus 2249?
A single-player, turn-based isometric cRPG by Dieselship Studio, set in a post-nuclear dieselpunk America. It is the standalone sequel to Olympus 2207, the studio's Fallout 2 total-conversion mod, and it enters Steam Early Access on October 6, 2026.
How much does Olympus 2249 cost?
The developer said 20 USD on the Steam forum, with regional prices set by Steam. The studio also says it plans to raise the price gradually as content is added, up to the full release.
Do I need to play Olympus 2207 or own Fallout 2?
No. Olympus 2249 is a standalone game. Olympus 2207 was a Fallout 2 mod; the developers have said they have not looked into re-releasing it because that would need Bethesda's permission.
How long is the Early Access version?
About 3 to 7 hours, depending on your build, playstyle and how many side quests you do. It covers roughly a quarter of the story, the first of three planned acts.
Can you have companions or a party?
Not a permanent party. The developers say only temporary companions join for specific quests, and the optional raids against raider groups assign companions at random. Apart from a short tutorial, you play solo.
Is Olympus 2249 an open-world sandbox?
No. The developers call it a story-driven game, not a sandbox: you cannot build a base anywhere in the desert and there are no repeatable quests, except the optional raids that replace caravan escorts from Fallout 1 and 2.
Is it more like Fallout 1, Fallout 2 or Fallout 3?
Asked on the Steam forum, a developer said that if you set aside the colour palette and music and look at how brutal and grim the world is, it is closest to Fallout 1.
Can I make my own character?
Yes. You create your own character rather than playing a fixed hero: paired attributes, a combat specialization, a peacetime specialization and a Karmic Type. Four presets are there for a first run.
What languages does Olympus 2249 support?
Steam lists English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Polish, Russian and Simplified Chinese. A developer said machine translation was used for languages the team does not speak and that professional proofreading is planned once Early Access funds it.
Does Olympus 2249 have a controller mode?
Steam lists full controller support, plus keyboard-only and mouse-only options, adjustable difficulty, Steam Cloud saves and save anytime.
